Throughout the years I've learned the values that it takes for success.  It's through facing challenges, assessing our options, and then taking action based upon our options, that an outcome is greatly influenced.  Will we always hit the mark?  Be successful at the task in front of us?  I'd be a liar if I said yes.  This is part of our learning curve.  Failed attempts do not make failures (as society would like us to believe), only failed attempts.  If we learn from these failed attempts then the challenge that was in front of us served its purpose.

I learned early in life to evaluate all challenges regardless of the outcome, and an education was a life long process.  Using this principle brought opportunities to achieve goals quicker than originally thought possible, and respect from the business world by starting from the ground floor and working up to the position of Technical Director of a manufacturing firm in less than 8 years without the benefits of a college education.

It has been interesting, fun and challenging.  My true friends in industry saw the struggles and success that it brought.  Interestingly, peers and associates come to me for answers, and I give them all the help I can.  When they ask about my education, I tell them I'm self-taught and early in my career had an excellent teacher.  It usually gets back to me that when they do begin to understand my background, they originally thought, based upon my knowledge and position, I had a Ph.D. of some area of chemistry.

I mention this only to show you that if you apply yourself, not halfway but really apply yourself, that anything is possible.  Believing you can is the first step to success; it will also create high ethical values and integrity

Most of my business career to date involves "Brick and Mortar" businesses along with a consulting business I started in the late 80's, which involved one of my passions - the computer industry.  I've always enjoyed building systems and networks; the first computer I modified was an IBM PCxt.  Those were the days - screw up and you blew five grand in a heartbeat.

When my employer found out about this talent I was given yet another task that of the IS dept.  Talking about challenges IS was and still is a challenge.  I started programming in a database language called "Pick Basic," which eventually became what is known today as "D3."  It was the first multi-dimensional database and was/still is a very reliable and fast database for everything from simple PC's to Mainframe computers.

My interest in "Online Business" started out more as a curiosity than anything else.  In 1999 I started researching network marketing and MLM, read as much as I could from the "Internet Marketing Guru's," and got took more times than I'd like to admit.  It all boiled down to what was my product or service.  I struggled with this until the end of 2001 when I realized what I wanted to do.

One of the projects I'm currently working on is a open membership portal available to anyone.  It's subject some consider to be "self-help," "Motivational" and "Educational."  In some ways I agree with their thinking but the goal of the portal is to develop a community of people willing to share their knowledge and experiences with other members and the general populace.

The site is called "Empowering Your Authentic Self."  You can find it at http://www.authentic-empowerment.net

Like other founding members of iCop I have a strong belief in giving back to the community, not because we expect anything in return but because we care.  As we learn to do this we begin to understand the principal of harvesting or, "You reap what you sow."  Abundance comes in many different forms, let's start living Abundantly.
