I hadn't heard from Bob for a while, so I started trying to
track him down - to finally find out he has left us.
Bob left the "internet marketing" field to do strict publishing
quite some time ago. But, I know many of you remember him. He
wrote dynamite articles and was my greatest support and most
trusted mentor many, many times. The world is a poorer place
without his presence.
Jay has graciously accepted, and I'm delighted to have such a
talented person working closely with us.

My Toshiba laptop came with EZ Firewall installed. I had always
used ZoneAlarm - which I love - on former computers.
Nevertheless, I left EZ Firewall on there, and I liked it fine.
Last week, it popped up a message telling me I needed to renew
the license to use it. No problem. I went to the Computer
Associates International web site to do that, using the link the
message gave me.
I was told I would need to download new software to do the
license renewal after I made the $29.99 payment. Again, no
problem.
However, the post-payment page, that was supposed to give me the
download link, didn't HAVE a link. BIG Problem!
It could have been an even bigger problem because I had also
been told I should remove the old firewall before downloading
the new file. If I had gone ahead and done that, I'd have SQUAT
- no firewall at all and no 30 bucks.
I wrote to the company. I received a message back stating, “The
order is still in process and will take 3-4 working days to
complete the order and provide you with the license keys to
install.”
Install WHAT? I still didn't have the software!
However, the next time I turned on the laptop, I did NOT receive
the message to renew the license. The original software has
never stopped working, so I AM covered.
I actually suspect they DID renew the license since the warnings
stopped. But, I have NO idea if (or WHY) I even need that new
software. MOST confusing!
I STILL haven't heard back from this company. And, I'll not be
in a hurry to deal with them, again. I might add ... they put
my payment through immediately - even though they couldn't
"complete the order."
If you're using EZ Firewall - or anything else from that company
- you might want to be a little careful in dealing with them.
I mentioned Jay Douglas earlier. Jay is a brilliant man. He
could barely make a web site before he started working with
online videos. I saw his first work, and it was terrific from
