EXCELLENCE can be attained if you - CARE more than others think
is wise - RISK more than others think is safe - DREAM more than
others think is practical - and EXPECT more than others think is
possible.

centered around one important thing: reading.
No lotions or potions. No complicated formulas or promises.
Just books - bestsellers to the classics, children's books to cook books.

I can't imagine how long it will be before folks can breathe out
there, again. Although, as I write this, that is the least of
their problems with those huge fires still raging.
We've had so much upset in my own family this past couple of
months, I barely realized we're already bearing down on the
holidays again. Things are slowly being resolved, but seems
like everyone I know has been going through “stuff.”
Even ET (my hand-raised pet cockatiel) is going through one of
his “territorial” periods. That means you're not supposed to
touch any of his toys. He waddles around whistling “Jingle
Bells,” but doesn't seem to have much Christmas spirit.
We only have control over our OWN lives. So, when the world
becomes chaotic, I like to advise folks to slow down - don't
start major life changes - and, wait for the energy to change.
It will.
I sent a little freebie to our subscribers, this past weekend.
Next weekend, you'll have the opportunity to get a ONE DAY
Special. So, watch for the announcement next Saturday or
Sunday.
(I very much appreciate those of you who wrote to say, "Thank
you." I truly believe if we could get back to a little more
common courtesy, it would go a long way toward improving things
online.)
I've also put a new free download in the Member Center for iCop
members. Although I was sending notices every time I uploaded a
new freebie in the Member Center, we need to cut down on email.
All future iCop Member downloads will be announced here in the
Trade Journal. So, you have two choices. Either read the
newsletter or remember to check the Member Center home page
periodically.
A couple of former members continue to display the iCop seal,
even after repeated notices (copied to their web hosts) to
remove it. We're now in the process of getting those seals
removed via legal means.

If you use aWeber to deliver to your email lists, you might be
interested in this. (Or, maybe you've already discovered it.)
When you read the open rate they show in your charts for a
specific mailing, it isn't quite accurate. They do NOT subtract
the undeliverables before they calculate the open rate
percentage.
Technically, your open rate is only based on the number of
emails DELIVERED. So, to get an accurate open rate you will
need to subtract their number of emails that were NOT delivered
- then recalculate the percentage.
In watching my own open rate the past few weeks, I've come to
understand why newspapers like Star Magazine and The National
Enquirer exist. They must be HUGE money-makers!
Many of my own subs apparently can only be bothered to read
anything if I've alerted them that it contains ranting or
finger-pointing. THAT they'll read!
Everyone loves sensationalism. It's pitiful when business
people are more interested in perceived sensationalism than in
things that can help them with their businesses.
Maybe THIS Will Help
I plan to SHORTEN the Trade Journal issues. I know I tend to
get on a roll when I write the articles myself. Then, they get
L-O-N-G.
Yet, the feed-back I receive says you want ME to do the
writing. Okay. From now on, I'll write, but I'll write less.
If an article DOES get long, I'll separate it into Parts 1 and
2.
That should solve the problem and let you spend less time
reading.

Then, there's the advent of the squeeze page. You're required to join a list to get anything - sometimes including access to a sales page (which couldn't possibly be more asinine). Nevertheless, it simply creates more email no one is reading. "REAL" spam is easier to control than all the advertising we receive. I send separate advertising to newsletter subscribers. After testing, I've narrowed it down to about twice per month. I try to provide the very best products and services at reasonable costs as a benefit to our subs. However, the email causing the problems is that being sent several times every week - and as often as daily. Even sending “freebies” every day is an annoyance to the receiver. Maybe, even “especially,” since that is (usually) nothing more than a come-on to sell something else. This is causing the over-kill that keeps folks tired of email. It keeps them from reading content they actually asked for because they wanted it - NOT because they were hijacked into it. We can't stop the marketers from abusing the right to send ads. Obviously they're making money, or they wouldn't do it. Send enough emails and you WILL sell. They play the numbers game. Is there an answer? Yes! Get OFF lists sending email you don't want. Unless your sole purpose is to receive yet more advertising from those who use squeeze pages to get you to sign up - unsubscribe! You're NOT going to get any content. But, UNSUBSCRIBE properly - no matter WHAT you cancel! I DO have to wonder why folks bother to subscribe to newsletters and ezines if they aren't going to bother to read them. Why send email to the junk folder or use those stupid “This is Spam” buttons (for something we subscribed to) when we can just unsubscribe? Is it stupidity or laziness? If you're getting on lists because you're giving up your email address to get free stuff - and you ARE - there's nothing to stop you from UNSUBSCRIBING if you're not going to read the senders' material. But, DON'T call that material "spam" when you signed up for it! Sooner, or later, there's going to be some accountability for saying something you subscribed to is spam - and causing the publisher grief. A psychiatrist, who had tired of listening to the assorted troubles and dreams that poured from his consulting couch, rigged up a tape recorder. Explaining to his patients that he could analyze a case better this way, he would turn on the machine, tell the patient to keep talking and quietly slip out for a beer. This worked well for a while, but one day he looked up from his beer to see the patient who was supposed to be upstairs on the couch. "What are you doing here?" asked the doctor.
"Well, Doc," said the patient, "I've taped my dreams and stuff
for the last couple of days, and now my tape recorder is
upstairs talking to your tape recorder." Click to Submit Your Joke to Us (Please leave off the graphics). Click to Send Comments, Questions & Suggestions
